Matter: Mass and Weight

According to Discovery Education, the thing that solid, liquid, and gas have in common are that they all have mass and take up space. Solid takes up space because for example, a tree is a solid and it takes up space. A liquid takes up space because a lake takes up space. Gases take up space. For example a balloon has a gas called helium inside if it that takes up space inside the balloon.
According to the Interactive Glossary, weight is the measure of the pull of gravity on an object. Like when you weigh yourself, you are seeing how much matter is inside you or how much space you take up. Weight and mass differ because mass is how much space something takes up (which I got from the Interactive Glossary) and weight is how much something weighs.
According to Discovery Education Weight is measured by a scale. You step on it and it tells you how much pounds (or lbs)  you weigh. Mass is measured with a balance.
After reading Built Strength Fast  I learned that if you change the location of an object it could and could not change its weight. It could because if you put it on another planet then the gravity is making the object lighter. It wouldn't change the weight on Earth because the gravity stays the same.
I learned from Discovery Education that the mass of an object is always the same compared to its parts because it still takes up the same amount of space.

Bullying and Popularity

Dear Readers,

I have recently been reading the article The Least Popular Aren't the Only Targets in School Bullying, Study Says.

Teens Getting Bullied

One of the main ideas are that teens are getting bullied. "Nearly a fifth of teens are getting bullied." My thinking for this main idea is that kids should just tell a teacher when they are getting bullied, which they don't do.

Thinking Bad Things

Another main idea is that when kids get bullied they get upset and think that they are going to kill themselves. "Bullied kids can suffer from feeling of sadness, increased worries and thoughts of killing themselves." My thinking for this main idea is that the kids that are getting bullied should ignore the bully if he is saying mean things that the kid should just ignore the bully or if the bully is punching the kid then he should fight back.

Friends With The Opposite Gender

The third main idea is that if  you are friends from the opposite gender then you won't get bullied. "Some students found protection; being friends with teens from the opposite gender provided some sort of shield." My thinking for this main idea is that i think that the bully knows that the person who is with them will stick up for them.

Homework: Too Little or Too Much?

Dear Readers,

I have recently read the document Homework: Too Little or Too Much? It Depends. There are three main ideas in this article.
Two Complaints

There are two main complaints about homework which are kids are getting too much homework and kids are getting too little homework. The reason for the first main idea is that. "Two common complaints that parents have about homework are as far apart as they can be: One is that there's too much homework and more of that even better the other is that there is too little." My thinking is that kids are getting too much homework.

Which Is True

The second main idea is that Tom Loveless is trying to figure out which statement is true. The reason for the second main idea is that "Educational expert Tom Loveless decided to find out which view is correct. On Tuesday he issued a report on his findings." My thinking is that more parents will want there kids to have less homework so that they can spend more time with their kids.

Interviewing

The third main idea is that Tom Loveless is interviewing kids who have too much or too little homework. The reason for the third main idea is that " The amount of homework can differ widely from school to school, though. My thinking is that kids need less homework so that they can spend more time with their families.

Respiratory System

The functions that the lungs have are they pull in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. When you pull in oxygen, your diaphragm goes down. When you breathe out, your diaphragm pushes up. This helps push air in and out. It is also how your lungs expand when you breathe out. You have tissue in your bones.
The respiratory system helps the body by bring in oxygen (or air) and pushing carbon dioxide. When you breathe, it is autonomic. That means that you don't have to think about breathing you just do it. When you talk you vocalize. When you breathe in and out, it is called respiration.
Air travels through the respiratory system by when you breathe in, it goes down your trachea where it gets heated and moistened. Then it goes into your lungs. Then from the lungs, it goes into you red blood cells to oxygenate the blood. Then, the blood goes to all parts of your body.
